Ceremony Types

Bali Bliss Weddings offers several types of ceremonies to suit each couples individual needs.

We have access to all the best Celebrants the island has to offer to make your ceremony blissful!

It is possible for couples of most nationalities to be legally married in Bali and to do so you are required to have both a religious and civil ceremony. There are five recognized religions in Indonesia and they are Buddhist, Catholic, Protestant, Moslem and Hindu. Indonesia will agree to marry couples who hold one of these 5 religions and prefer that the couple are of the same religious belief. Both ceremonies will be performed consecutively. The religious ceremony performed first by a representative of your religious beliefs, followed by a civil ceremony. It is this second ceremony performed by the Civil Registrar that will legalize your wedding and two separate certificates, both religious and civil, will be issued to you.
All foreign marriage applicants are required to present a "Certificate Of No Impediment" or similar document declaring ‘Freedom to Marry’, issued by their Consulate or Embassy representative within Indonesia.

Both ceremonies must be performed by Indonesian representatives and will be in the English language. We provide standard ceremony texts and couples are welcome to personalize the ceremony by writing their own vows. Bali Bliss Weddings will confidently advise, guide and prepare all required documentation for application to the Registrar and Religious Authority, including personal onsite assistance at the Consulate.

The Vow Renewal ceremony is the perfect opportunity for couples who are already legally married and wish to re honor and celebrate their original vows after some years of marriage. It can contain a religious or non religious element depending on the couple’s wishes. This meaningful ceremony may be performed by either a Western or Balinese Celebrant and a signing certificate is optional. We provide standard ceremony texts and couples are welcome to personalize the ceremony by writing their own vows.

A Commitment Ceremony is one of our most popular and widely performed ceremonies! It is an ideal way for couples to express their love and commitment to one another without any legal implications.  It will suit those who do not wish to be legally married or who may have already been legally married at a Civil Registry Office in their residing country and now wish to enjoy a full wedding celebration infront family and friends. It can contain a religious element, but is generally chosen by most couples wishing to have a non religious ceremony.

The Religious only ceremony is ideal for couples wanting to celebrate marriage without any legal implications or for those who wish to celebrate a renewal of vows after some years of marriage. It is performed by a Religious Representative of your belief, such as a Catholic Priest or a Christian Minister and of course the ceremony will have an important religious reference. Couples will be presented with a Religious Certificate from the Church upon completion of the ceremony. This ceremony must be performed by an Indonesian Officiant and will be in the English language. We provide standard ceremony texts and couples are welcome to personalize the ceremony by writing their own vows.

Balinese Blessing Ceremony is a non legal ceremony that includes a very spiritual element.  The ceremony is performed by a Balinese Mangku (priest) and is enjoyed by couples who wish to experience traditional Balinese customs and culture.  The blessing ceremony is very popular with couples who seek an alternative way of declaring their love and commitment to one another. The couple are required to dress in traditional Balinese costume for the ceremony and it also involves symbolic gestures between the couple while offerings are made to the Hindu Gods
